Understanding Your HQ Products: Clear & Blender

There are two products in your protocol that contain hydroquinone (also called HQ):
✅ Clear or Muted
✅ Blender or Level

​

Both contain VERY low dosages of hydroquinone (more than 1/2 of the industry standard--about the same strength as what’s in a cup of coffee), but they are NOT the same and should not be used interchangeably.

🔹 What is Clear or Muted?

Clear is usually used on its own to calm down your pigment-producing cells (melanocytes).
Think of it as a “nap time” for the cells that cause dark spots.

How to Use:

• Use 1 full fingertip amount (½ gram) of Clear or 3 full pumps of Muted (Be sure to use the exact product and strength named on your protocol.)

• Apply to face and under the chin only

• Do not share with other areas of the body

• Use twice a day (unless your protocol says otherwise)

Application Tips:

1. Dispense the top of your hand

2. Use the dot method: apply small dots to your forehead, cheeks, chin

3. Gently massage in for 1 minute (until it feels like it's fully absorbed)

4. Wait 30 to 60 seconds before applying your next product

🔹 What is Blender or Level?

Blender is usually mixed with another product, like a retinoid or exfoliant, to help push it deeper into the skin.

How to Use:

• Use 1 fingertip amount  or 3 full pumps of Level (Be sure to use the exact product and strength named on your protocol.)

• Always blend with the product listed in your protocol

• Apply to face and under the chin only

Blending Tips:

1. Squeeze Blender or Level onto the top of your hand

2. Squeeze or pump the second product (like Tret) next to it

3. Mix the two together on your hand

4. Apply using the same dot method as Clear or Muted

5. Do NOT use near the eyes or on tattooed brows—it can cause irritation or fade ink

⚠️ Important Reminders

• Wash your hands thoroughly after using HQ products

• Wait at least 30 minutes before going to bed or looking down at your phone to avoid product transfer

• HQ products can transfer to sheets, kids, pets, or clothing

​

☀️ What About Summer?

Do NOT stop using HQ during summer!

• Heat and sun can trigger pigment to come back

• HQ helps prevent this

• Your skin will be more sensitive, so you must protect it

  • Wear SPF

  • Reapply sunscreen

  • Wear hats

  • Stay shaded when possible

Think of your skin like baby skin—fresh and new. You have to protect it carefully.

🧴 Product Reordering & Lifespan

• These products are meant to last a specific amount of time

• Check the “Lifespan of Products” section in your Member Portal

• Never stop HQ suddenly

• You can order 1–2 weeks early so you don’t run out

• You cannot order multiple bottles at once

✅ Quick Recap:

• Clear or Muted and Blender and Level are not the same—use exactly as written in your protocol

• Always use the full dosage

• Never mix or blend unless the protocol tells you to

• Avoid the eye area and tattooed brows

• Protect your skin from the sun

• Wash your hands after applying
