What if getting older didn’t have to mean your skin looked older?
Updated: Sep 1

We talk a lot about before-and-after photos in aesthetics.
Thirty days.
Three months.
Six months.
But some of the most powerful results aren’t measured in months.
They’re measured in years.
Meet Chastity.
For the past 13 years, Chastity has driven more than an hour to Spruce for microneedling treatments and has consistently followed personalized skincare protocols designed to change as her skin changes.
Thirteen years.
And somehow, every year, we swear she looks younger.
Her story is one of my favorite examples of something I wish more people understood about skincare:
Beautiful skin isn’t created by one extraordinary treatment. It’s built through hundreds of very ordinary decisions.
Your Skin Never Takes a Day Off
Your skin is constantly changing.
Every day, new skin cells are being produced. Your skin is continually responding to things happening both inside and outside your body, including:
UV exposure
Hormonal changes
Inflammation
Environmental stress
Pollution
Lifestyle
Aging
The products you consistently use at home
That means skincare isn’t really something you “finish.”
You don’t reach a certain point, collect your beautiful skin trophy, and retire. Unfortunately, skin refuses to cooperate with that very convenient plan.
As your skin changes, what it needs may change too.
And that is a major part of how we approach skin at Spruce.
We Don’t Believe in Finding One Routine and Using It Forever
When someone becomes a Spruce patient, our goal isn’t simply to hand them a collection of products and send them home.
We look at the skin in front of us.
What are we trying to improve?
What does the skin need right now?
What can it tolerate?
What needs to be strengthened before we ask it to do more?
And as the skin improves, the plan evolves.
A patient working through pigmentation, inflammation or congestion may need something very different from that same patient once those concerns are controlled.
Eventually, the goal shifts from simply correcting the skin to protecting and maintaining what we’ve accomplished while continuing to support healthy aging.
That’s where long-term consistency becomes incredibly powerful.
Why Microneedling Has Been Part of Chastity’s Routine for 13 Years
Microneedling is one of the cornerstones of what we do at Spruce.
Rather than constantly chasing the newest aesthetic treatment, we have spent years specializing in a treatment we know extremely well and combining it with carefully managed home skincare.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, initiating the skin’s natural wound-healing response and supporting processes involved in collagen remodeling and skin renewal.
One treatment can be beneficial.
But Chastity’s story shows something different:
What happens when you stop thinking about skincare as a quick transformation and start thinking about the health and appearance of your skin over decades?
That is a completely different conversation.
Consistency Compounds
Think about the things that seem insignificant on any given Tuesday.
Putting on your sunscreen.
Following your skincare routine.
Using the right products consistently.
Keeping your treatment appointments.
Adjusting your routine when your skin changes
instead of continuing to do what worked three years ago.
None of those things feels particularly dramatic.
But neither does putting money into an investment account one time.
The power comes from repetition and time.
Small decisions compound.
A month becomes a year.
A year becomes five.
Five becomes thirteen.
And then you compare photographs and realize something remarkable:
Thirteen years have passed, but the skin doesn’t necessarily tell the same story.
And Then There’s Chastity…
I have to tell you my favorite part of this story.
Chastity is the cutest, fiercest little firecracker you will ever meet.
When I first met her 13 years ago, I was a first-year aesthetician.
And she intimidated the absolute HELL out of me. 😂
I distinctly remember her leaving that first appointment and thinking:
“Well… I’ll never see her again.”
Apparently, I did something right.
Because she came back.
And kept coming back.
For 13 years.
She has driven more than an hour each way, stayed consistent with her skincare and continued investing in her skin year after year.
Recently, Chastity even participated in an exclusive Spruce photo shoot, and looking at those photographs stopped me in my tracks.
She is absolutely stunning.
But what makes those photographs so meaningful to me isn’t simply how beautiful she looks today.
It’s knowing the 13-year story behind that skin.
This Is What Healthy Aging Can Look Like
Our philosophy at Spruce has never been about making someone look like a different person.
And it isn’t about pretending aging doesn’t exist.
Aging is happening. We’re all participating whether we signed up for it or not.
Our goal is to help people take exceptional care of the skin they’re living in while addressing concerns such as pigmentation, uneven tone, texture, inflammation and visible signs of aging.
Sometimes that requires correction.
Sometimes it requires strengthening.
Sometimes the smartest thing we can do is maintain.
But it always requires consistency.
Chastity’s results weren’t created because she had “better” skin.
They weren’t created by one miracle product or one dramatic procedure.
They were built.
One treatment.
One skincare routine.
One adjustment.
One ordinary day at a time.
For thirteen years.
And THAT may be one of the most important lessons her skin can teach us:
Beautiful skin isn’t built in the extraordinary moments.
It’s built in the ordinary ones.
